Permission Levels in SharePoint

    


 Permission levels are the set of rules on users, groups or servers for security and access purposes.

7 Permission level in SharePoint 2013:

View Only- Enables users to view application pages.

Limited access- enable users to access a specific list, document library, folder, list item, or document, without enabling them to access the whole site.

After breaking the inheritance , “Stop Inheriting” this permission level can be given.

Read- Enables users to view pages and list items, and to download documents.

Contribute- Enables users to manage custom views, edit items in list, delete versions in existing lists and document libraries, and add, remove, and update Web Parts.

Edit- Enables users to manage lists.

Design- Enables users to view, add, update, delete, approve, and customize items or pages in the website.

Full control- Enables users to have full control of the website.

5 Permission levels in SharePoint 2010:

Limited Access, Read, Contribute, Design, Full Control
